Suffering From Chronic Pain? Try Cold Laser Therapy
If you’re suffering from chronic pain of any sort — in your back or knees or due to headache or injury — and you’re looking for a solution that doesn’t include medication, cold laser therapy just might be the ticket for you.
At Dr. Kochert Pain & Health, we understand the difficulties that chronic pain can bring to your life. That’s why we’re pleased to offer this advanced technology to jump-start your pain relief.
What is cold laser therapy?
You knew Albert Einstein was smart — you just didn’t know how smart. As far back as 1918, he suggested that lasers might be used to help heal the human body. Turns out, he was exactly right.
Unlike hot lasers used in surgery, cold lasers are photochemical and can’t burn your skin. This low-level laser delivers a specific frequency of light to targeted cells in your body.
As the laser penetrates your skin — it can reach up to 5 centimeters below the surface of your skin — the light photons stimulate the mitochondria in your cells. Mitochondria are the powerhouses of the cell; they produce energy in the form of adenosine triphosphate (ATP).
As the amount of ATP in your cells increases, the cells’ capacity for regeneration and communications increases as well. This helps heal damaged cells by allowing them to take in higher levels of oxygen and nutrients. It can reduce cell inflammation and pain and widen blood vessels for better blood flow and faster healing.
Dr. Carolyn Kochert uses the Theralase® cold laser system to achieve the best possible results.
What conditions does cold laser therapy treat?
Cold laser therapy can address a wide range of conditions, including pain in your back, neck, and knee, along with pain from arthritis, fibromyalgia, carpal tunnel syndrome, migraines, and more. It can treat burns and scarring, causing them to heal more quickly.
Cold laser therapy is also used for sports injuries such as sprained ankles, where the biggest healing need is reduced swelling and inflammation.
Why should you try cold laser therapy?
There’s really no downside to cold laser therapy. It’s noninvasive, painless, and has no side effects. It’s effective in treating the underlying cause of your symptoms, not just the symptoms themselves, and it works well with other types of treatment, such as physical therapy.
Most conditions that cause pain respond best to a series of cold laser treatments. Patients often complete anywhere from 5-25 treatments, with each session lasting a maximum of 20 minutes. Dr. Kochert designs a customized treatment plan that best fits your needs.
Cold laser therapy may sound like a treatment from a science fiction novel, but it’s real — and it’s effective. Call our office today to set up an appointment, or use the online booking tool to so you can relieve your chronic pain and live your life on your terms.
