PRP Injections What is PRP?
Platelet-rich plasma (PRP) is made up of the most powerful growth factors in your blood. Your PRP has a minimum of seven unique growth factors that prompt your body to heal efficiently and quickly. When those growth factors are isolated are concentrated, they’re especially powerful, and that’s why PRP injection is so useful as a healing therapy.
What conditions can PRP therapy help with?
PRP is a highly flexible treatment that physicians use in nearly every part of the body today. Some common areas for PRP therapy are:
- Surgical wounds
- Tendon damage
- Severe muscle strain
- Fibrosis
- Arthritis
- Cartilage damage or defects
- Dry eyes
- COPD
- Asthma
- Hair Loss
PRP can also be a powerful anti-aging tool. It’s used in the Vampire Facial® and other microneedling procedures to help reduce wrinkles, tighten skin, and improve texture.
If you're struggling with a health condition and want a long-term solution rather than depending on medication forever, talk to Dr. Kochert to discuss how PRP can help you.
How does PRP therapy work?
Dr. Kochert takes a small amount of your blood (around 30 milliliters) and then uses the centrifuge in the on-site sterile lab to isolate your PRP. She then injects or otherwise delivers your PRP where you need it to experience optimal regenerative benefit.
If you’re suffering from COPD or another respiratory illness, you’ll get PRP therapy through a nebulizer for maximum effect. If you have dry eyes, Dr. Kochert creates a special eye drop solution as your PRP delivery vehicle. She always customizes your PRP treatment for your unique needs.
How many PRP therapy treatments do I need?
Most patients get the best results with several treatments over a four to six month period. Three to four treatments is average, but you could need more based on the extent of damage and how quickly your body heals.
Is there any downtime after PRP therapy?
There’s usually no downtime needed after PRP therapy. Dr. Kochert will give you specific guidelines about returning to physical activity based on where you had the treatment and your current condition.
When will I get results from PRP therapy?
Results aren’t instant, but it’s important to remember that you’re getting a long-term solution instead of a short-term fix. You may experience symptom relief within the first six weeks, with results getting even better as your body heals.
